Syrian parliamentary elections at the end of the coming month
Syrian President Hafez al-Assad chose November 30 as the date for elections of the members of the seventh Syrian parliament to four-year terms. The decision opens the door before the nominees.
Syrian presidential spokesman, Joubran Koriah said that the presidential decree specified 127 seats for laborers and farmers and 123 for the rest of the people.
Damascus, which is the biggest electoral district, is represented by 29 deputies in comparison to 5 for al-Qunaytira governorate, the smallest district, whose Golan Heights is occupied by Israel.
The nominations will start soon, and the electoral campaign will last one month to be stopped 48 hours before the vote.
