Morocco moves to thwart evangelization campaigns targeting Moroccan expatriates
Morocco is mobilizing to thwart evangelization campaigns targeting the Moroccan community settled abroad, said Moroccan minister of Habous (endowments) and Islamic Affairs, Abdelkebir Alaoui Mdaghri.
Mdaghri, who was addressing the Chamber of Advisors (upper house) on Tuesday during the question time, warned against the dangers of evangelization and proselytism campaigns targeting Moroccan expatriates.
His department, he said, is vigilantly following these campaigns and mobilizing to thwart them in cooperation with the Hassan II Foundation for the Moroccan community settled abroad, Islamic organizations based abroad and all concerned sides. Actions are conducted in this respect to enlighten the Moroccan expatriates on issues related to their religion and to consolidate their faith, he said.
The minister voiced confidence that an adequate and coordinated response will frustrate the campaigns, especially as the Moroccans are devoted to the values of the Islamic religion.
