Originally published

The International Islamic Human Rights Committee intends to organize an international conference on human rights in Islam, the Committee's chairman, Ahmado Mukhtar Mbo announced Friday in Rabat.

The conference will seek to consecrate the Islamic approach to human rights issues, open an earnest debate to face the attempts aimed at tarnishing the image of Islam, said Mbo, a former UNESCO director general, during a meeting with Moroccan endowments and Islamic affairs minister, Abdelkebir Alaoui M'Daghri.

The Minister expressed Morocco's backing to Mbo's initiative and voiced his country's will to coordinate efforts to publicize the genuine image of Islam.
