Morocco is looking for new formulas for fishery partnership
Moroccan Foreign Minister Abdellatif Filali said Morocco is looking for new formulas for cooperation in fisheries with Spain and other interested circles.
The foreign minister told MAP office in Madrid where he co-chaired with his Spanish counterpart Abel Matutes a seminar on "Morocco's ambitions and reforms on the eve of the 21st century," reasserting that the present fisheries agreement with the European Union is the last one of these classic accords. He called for a "partnership cooperation" that will help find a lasting solution to fisheries problems in Morocco.
After he recalled the excellent political relations between Morocco and Spain, he said all topics were discussed frankly in the seminar held this October 13-14. He went on that contacts are very smooth between entrepreneurs of the two countries and Morocco is endeavoring to facilitate foreign investments, particularly Spanish ones.
Regarding the issue of immigration, Filali said illegal immigration through the strait of Gibraltar is not a problem facing Morocco and Spain alone but other south European countries as well such as France and Italy. He went on a regional debate is needed to find more concrete and reasonable solutions to the problem's origins.
