EU to debate evolution of Morocco - EU fishery relations
The European Commission will start shortly debates on the evolution of relations in fisheries with Morocco, said European commissioner for fisheries, Emma Bonino.
Answering a question by a Euro-legislator who deplored that Morocco's decision not to renew the fisheries agreement with Europe will have serious effects on Europe's fishing activities, the European union official stressed that the Commission will examine with member states the appropriate economic and social initiatives.
The European MP argued that the commission has to adopt a firm position in order to avoid that the fisheries agreement be used as a pressure and endangers the future of this important sector.
