Syrian FM confers with EU Middle East envoy
Syrian Foreign Minister Farouk al-Sharaa on Wednesday received the European Union's Middle East peace process envoy, Miguel Angel Moratinos. Talks dealt with latest developments in the region and the current situation of the peace process.
In a statement to SANA following his meeting with al-Sharaa, Moratinos stressed that the peace process will not be successful in the region unless it is comprehensive.
He added that the time is very important to give a message about the importance of comprehensive peace, especially before convening the summit between the Palestinian and Israeli officials in Washington.
He indicated that he briefed al-Sharaa on the results of his talks with US, Palestinian and Israeli officials as well as on the role of the European Union to resume talks on the Syrian track.
The two sides also discussed the crisis between Turkey and Syria and how the EU may play a role to ease the tension.
