Voice of Africa is the new name of the Libyan Radio
Libyan Radio started broadcasting under the name "Voice of Africa" instead of its previous name of "Voice of the Arab Nation."
Libya has expressed unhappiness with the Arab states' position of not breaking the air embargo imposed on Libya by the United Nations. This change in names came when the Arab League refused to join the Organization of African Unity in ignoring the United Nation's sanctions imposed on air flights to and from Libya.
Colonel Gaddafi announced that the concept of the Arab unity no longer exists for him and that he will head to Africa, which supported him as a great number of the African countries' presidents violated the air embargo in implementation of last June's resolution adopted by of the Organization of African Unity to break the embargo as of September 1.
Among those presidents who broke the air embargo are the presidents of Chad, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda and Sudan.
