A message from Iranian President to President al-Assad

Iranian President Muhammad Khatami has sent a message to President Hafez al-Assad relating to the current crisis between Syria and Turkey. This was announced on Tuesday in Tehran by Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharazi, who added that he had made a telephone call to Syrian Foreign Minister Farouk al-Sharaa on this issue.

Kharazi explained that the Iranian ambassador in Damascus left Tehran on Monday to deliver the message to President al-Assad.
