AL continues efforts to settle Lockerbie case

Originally published

Arab League (AL) Assistant Secretary General for Arab Affairs Ahmad Bin Hali has confirmed that the AL is currently heading a political, international and regional initiative to solve the Lockerbie case and lift the embargo imposed on Libya.

During a meeting with African reporters currently visiting Egypt, Bin Hali said Egypt is discussing this initiative with the Organization of African Unity and United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan.

Bin Hali condemned the double-standard policy he said is being adopted by the greater countries against the Arab states. He regretted the international community's position of not imposing sanctions on Israel despite its non-commitment to international legitimacy resolutions.
