King Hassan II: Morocco determined to clear human rights record

Originally published

King Hassan II on Friday announced Morocco's "firm determination" to definitively close the human rights dossier in the next six months.

"It is our determination to definitively close the human rights dossier in the six coming months," King Hassan II said in a speech at the opening of the fall session of the Moroccan Parliament.

The sovereign added that he decided to give instructions for the implementation of some requests submitted by the Human Rights Advisory Council (CCDH).

Morocco wants to do away with a reputation that does not at all reflect reality and that conforms neither to its past nor to its present, King Hassan II said.

The CCDH, which was set up by the King in 1990, decided at a recent meeting to settle the dossier of detainees and of people reported missing.
