Morocco's ambitions and reforms to be surveyed in Madrid

Originally published

The Moroccan-Spanish Averroes Committee sponsors this October 13-14 sessions on "Morocco at the dawn of the 21st century: ambitions and major reforms."

The event, to be co-chaired by the two countries' foreign ministers, Abdellatif Filali and Abel Matutes, will be attended by several members of the Moroccan government who will expound the progress scored by Morocco during the past years in political, economic and social matters.

"New data of Moroccan politics," "Morocco's new constitutional realities and human rights," "Moroccan political life through political parties' activities and the media," "Moroccan economy and the new challenges," "Morocco's new economic orientations" and "Morocco in the Euro-Mediterranean space" will be among the topics to be debated.

The Averroes committee seeks to promote understanding and entente between Moroccans and Spaniards through dialogue and mutual respect.

The committee was set up in February 1996 by virtue of the Moroccan-Spanish treaty of friendship, neighborliness and cooperation. It is chaired by the two countries' foreign ministers and holds periodical meetings alternately in Morocco and Spain.
