Bashir canceled meeting with Museveni

Originally published

Sudanese President Omar El-Bashir confirmed that he canceled his planned meeting with Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni at the end of last month, after Sudan claimed that Ugandan forces launched an attack in the Sharq al Istiwa'iyah province adjacent to Uganda.

Bashir threatened to increase the battles in south Sudan between government forces and rebels in the tropical state of al-Sharq al-Istiwa'iyah, and inside the Ugandan territories.

The Sudanese president said the battle with Museveni will not be confined to southern Sudan, and it won't stop except in Kampala.

He also excluded the possibility of the government holding any peace negotiations with the Sudanese People's Liberation Army, chaired by John Garang, until after the end of battles.
