Kuwait to build city near Iraqi borders
Kuwait announced that it will build a new city to house 250,000 persons in the Subiya region near the Iraqi border, within the plan to expand Kuwait's housing over the coming 30 years.
The Kuwaiti ministerial council discussed a report in this concern set up by a ministerial committee, which recommended the building of the city as an attempt to deal with urban expansion and different aspects of development besides meeting growing demands for housing.
Kuwait City has expanded to south since the 1940s, yet no building projects were undertaken in northern Kuwait due continuing security concerns.
