Kuwaiti president telephones Turkish president
Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Jaber al-Ahmad al-Sabah yesterday made a telephone call to Turkish President Suleiman Demirel.
Sheikh Jaber stressed that the language of dialogue and discussion is the best means of dealing with the escalated tensions between the "two Muslim countries Syria and Turkey in order to avoid a new crisis which will be of adverse consequences on the Middle East as a whole."
Meanwhile, Syrian President Hafez al-Assad on Tuesday received a telephone call from Sheikh Jaber. The telephone conversation between the two Presidents dealt with the current situation between Syria and Turkey.
Sheikh Jaber expressed Kuwait's support for Syria's position, which calls for resorting to dialogue on search of a solution to the crisis between Syria and Turkey.
