Egyptian - Russian cooperation in civil defense
Egypt's assistant foreign minister for European affairs, Fathi El-Shazely, met with the deputy civil defense minister in Russia, Vladimir Kliminco, who is currently visiting Cairo.
El-Shazely said the Russian official's visit to Egypt comes within the implementation of the memorandum of understanding concerning cooperation in the fields of civil defense signed between Egypt and Russia during the visit of President Mubarak to Moscow during September 1997.
El-Shazely added that during the meeting in Moscow they discussed methods and means of implementing this program, for which each side specified $150,000 annually to train individuals, exchange experiences and undertake training projects.
Moreover El-Shazely said this program comes within an Egyptian plan to establish a network for international relations to Egypt, enhancing its capabilities in this field and within its participation in confronting catastrophes and disasters (by mankind) in the Arab and African regions.
