Russian delegation visits to Egypt activate joint cooperation
A high-ranking Russian political delegation is starting a four-day visit to Cairo.
The Russian delegation is headed by Victor Carbebenco, the deputy head of the Russian national institute for foreign relations affiliated to the Russian Foreign Ministry.
The delegation is holding talks with the leadership of the Egyptian Foreign Ministry to forward Russian - Egyptian bilateral cooperation in all regional and international fields, activating the Russian role in peacemaking and president Mubarak's initiative to evacuate the area of weapons of mass destruction.
After the completion of this visit, another Russian security delegation under the chairmanship of Russian Minister of Interior Vladimir Klinminco will arrive in Cairo.
The security delegation will comprise five Russian security leaders, and they will hold talks with Egyptian Minister of Interior General Habib El-Adli to begin implementing the security cooperation protocol between the two countries.
This protocol is the first of its kind between Egypt and Russia. Supervisors expect an increase in the joint cooperation between Moscow and Cairo after former Russian Foreign Minister Yvegeny Primakov's assumption of power as the Russian prime minister.
Primakov is known for his defense of Arab rights and issues, as he worked for 18 years as a correspondent for the Pravda newspaper from the Egyptian capital, Cairo, and speaks the Arabic language.
