Agreement for US economic aid to Egypt to be signed Sunday

Egyptian economic sources said today that the signing of the agreement to resume distributing American economic aid to Egypt for 1998 will take place on Sunday.

The agreement will be signed by Zafer El-Beshir, Egyptian minister of state for planning and international cooperation and by Daniel Kurtzer, the United States' ambassador in Cairo.

The US congress agreed to present $775 million in economic aid to Egypt during the new fiscal year, a reduction of $40 million from the previous year.
