Syrian President confers with former AL chief

Syrian President Hafez al-Assad on Sunday at the Presidential palace of the coastal city of Lattakia received former secretary general of the Arab League Chazli Qlibi. Talks dealt with the general situations in the Arab states. Qlibi said President al-Assad talked of the nation's concerns and the region's problems.

Earlier in the day, Syrian Foreign Minister Farouk al-Sharaa' met with Qlibi in Damascus. Talks dealt with current Arab conditions and the impasse in the Middle East peace process.
