Belgian official stress potential of Moroccan-Belgian partnership
Belgian minister of state and chairman of the Liberal Reform Party (PRL), Louis Michel, who is leading a delegation to Morocco, said there is major potential in the partnership between his country and Morocco.
The Belgian official told MAP's bureau in Marrakesh (southern Morocco) that there are several sectors that can be used to establish genuine partnership and cooperation between the two countries. He added that his visit to Morocco is meant to assess opportunities for projects and the outlook for cooperation.
The Belgian delegation started Sunday a four-day visit to Morocco at the invitation of Moroccan moderate party "National Rally of Independents" (RNI).
The trip's organizer, Moroccan-born Belgian legislator Mostapha Ouezkhiti, explained that "as part of the new policy in the Arab world, the PRL has decided to focus on Morocco for several reasons, mainly the importance of the Moroccan-born community in Belgium, a community which can play a linking role between the two countries, the key part that Morocco can play to ensure economic stability in the Maghreb and the geographic proximity with Europe."
He explained that in his capacity as a Moroccan-born regional representative, it is his duty to work for rapprochement between peoples and cultures and struggle against discrimination and racism.
The delegation comprises about 20 persons, including seven journalists.
During its stay in Rabat, Casablanca and Marrakesh, the delegation met with several Moroccan ministers and officials of political parties represented in the parliament.
It also held work sessions with Moroccan entrepreneurs and visited Moroccan enterprises and Belgian companies established in the kingdom.
