OIC voices concern over situation in Afghanistan

Originally published

The Organization of Islamic Conference "OIC" has expressed deep concern over the escalating armed conflict among warring factions in Afghanistan and voiced readiness to pursue efforts for the peaceful settlement of the Afghan conflict.

In a statement made public on Wednesday, the OIC called for respecting the territorial integrity of Afghanistan and recalled the various moves made by the Islamic organization for the restoration of peace in this Muslim country.

The OIC also called for the release of Iranian diplomats who disappeared since the Taleban forces took control over the northern Afghan city of Mezar El-Sherif last week.

Iran has accused the Taleban of holding the diplomats and threatened to resort to force to win their release.
