Originally published

The governor of al-Jawf province, situated north of the Yemeni capital, Sanaa, was hit by bullets in an armed ambush implanted by a Yemeni tribe for an official group which also included two ministers.

A Yemeni official was quoted as saying that the governor of al-Jawf, Naji al-Zuleimi, was wounded in his right shoulder, whereas the minister of the interior, Maj. Gen. Hussein Araba, and the minister of local administration, Sadiq Amin, were able to escape the attack uninjured.

The official added that the attackers are from al-Shoulan tribe which inhabits a region located about 100 km north of the capital.

The incident came as Yemeni tribal sources said that armed clashes between army forces and police and Yemeni tribes were renewed yesterday in al-Jawf governorate, adding there were many people injured during the fighting.
