Egypt, France discuss international reactions to initiative on peace

Originally published

Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa received yesterday French envoy Claude Kosirat, who arrived at Cairo for a two-day visit.

After the meeting, the French official said that the talks he held with Moussa came within the continuous consultations between Egypt and France, where the talks concentrate on the situation in the Middle East and following up on the initiative that was proposed by Egypt's President Mubarak and French President Jacques Chirac.

The French envoy said that this initiative aroused several inquiries, adding that the talks were about discussing the reactions to the French/Egyptian initiative. Kosirat also said that during the meeting he and Moussa agreed to continue the consultations between them.

Kosirat will leave Cairo on Sunday for Tel Aviv in a visit to Israel during which he will meet with Israeli officials before his return to Paris.
