Arab Lawyers Union denounces plans to Judaize Jerusalem

Originally published

In a statement yesterday the Arab Lawyers Union denounced Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's plan to Judaize Jerusalem and implement the establishment of "greater Jerusalem."

The secretary of the union, Farouk Abu Eissa, said this decision is a foundation for the Israeli occupation and domination of Jerusalem.

Abu Eissa also called on Arab and Islamic governments and the Organization of African Unity to hold a summit addressing the issue of Jerusalem in order to take practical steps and act with Christians to pressure Israel to end these plans, respect the rights of the Palestinian people and their sovereignty over their land, ask Arab governments to halt all forms of normalization, including economic and cultural dealings and political communications with Israel.

The statement said Netanyahu's government is making use of redeployment and other disputes relating to the Israeli withdrawal to gain time to impose his policy regarding Jerusalem and other issues.
