Originally published

Russia inquired about the developments in efforts to convene an Arab summit, the phases at which it has reached, and the Arab position to face Israeli obstinacy that obstructs the peace process.

That came during the meeting of Russia's ambassador in Cairo, Vladimir Ghodaiv, with the Arab League's assistant secretary-general Zakaria Ismail, who told ArabicNews.com that, "The Russian ambassador inquired about the developments of convening the Arab summit and the obstacles that face the peace process," confirming that he informed the Russian ambassador of the Arab position toward the peace process and the developments in the Lockerbie crisis within the African summit's resolutions.

He added, "We talked about the U.S. initiative for pushing the peace process forward, confirming that it is an American negligent situation with Israel."

He also said, "We discussed the importance of the Russian role in the peace process and what must be done in the future and that Vladimir Ghodaiv confirmed to me... the importance of uniting the Arab positions as well as talking with the whole world to support Arab rights."
