Yemen continues investigation into journalists
The Yemeni authorities are continuing the investigation of three British correspondents from the B.B.C., after it accused them of not abiding by the authorities' instructions not to go to a tribal region that recently viewed kidnapping operations.
The British embassy in Sanaa confirmed that the members of the British television group are still under investigation and their visas are under the Yemeni authorities. The embassy also said that the three correspondents were released on the guarantees of the British embassy, and they are currently staying in a Sanaa hotel, according to their agreement with general prosecutor Mohammed El-Badri, who took the charge of the case by himself.
In a phone call from Cairo, a prominent official in the British embassy said that the investigation will include all the aspects from which the Yemeni authorities complain and said Britain fears that the investigation will be too long.
The correspondents have shot footage in the region without permission from the Yemeni authorities, who confiscated the film.
