73 kidnapping operations victimize 160 foreigners and Yemenis

Formal statistics from Yemen's Ministry of Interior revealed that Yemen has had 73 kidnapping operations since January 21, 1992 with 134 foreigners and 26 Yemeni victims.

French experts and tourists were at the top those who were affected by these operations, with 81 victims in 13 kidnapping operations, followed by seven experts and tourists from Germany.

On the other hand 21 Italian tourists were exposed to kidnap operations beside 16 American experts, 14 British tourists and experts, 13 Dutch tourists and experts.

Among the other foreigners who were kidnapped were people from Russia, Poland, Japan, Korea, Spain, Canada, Switzerland, India, Pakistan, and China. Moreover the attempt of kidnapping the Qatari ambassador in Sanaa was foiled.
