AL for cohesion between Syrian-Lebanese tracks
The secretary-general of the Arab League, Esmat Abdul Meguid, has underlined the significance of inseparability of the Syrian-Lebanese tracks of the Middle East peace process. He also rejected Israel's conditional proposals on withdrawal from south Lebanon describing them as a new Israeli maneuver.
Interviewed by al-Awj magazine published in Athens, Abdul Meguid added that security is not attainable in the region if it is only in favor of Israel. Abdul Meguid called upon all Arabs to unify their ranks on the grounds of reactivating boycotting Israel and rejecting all forms of normalization with it.
He also appealed to the US to adopt an impartial stand and abide by the principles of integrity, neutrality and justice. He highlighted efforts exerted by both Syria and Egypt in enabling the UN Secretary General Kofi Annan to strike a deal with Iraq.
