Yemeni president consults to form a new government

Originally published

Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh began communications within his ruling party, the General People's Congress, to choose the coming prime minister after outgoing prime minister Farag Bin Ghanem presented his resignation from that post last Wednesday.

The consultations held by the Yemeni president will establish the final formula for forming a new government which may include new faces among the ruling party's members.

Diplomatic sources related to the ruling party's leadership said that the president will authorize Bin Ghanem to form the new government.

But the sources hinted that President Saleh would choose Abdul Aziz El-Ghani as government's head, as he is an ex-prime minister.

Meanwhile El-Massar newspaper close to the ruling public conference, said that Foreign Minister Abdul Karim al-Iryani would assume the task of leading the government and forming the new ministries.
