Originally published

Organization of the Islamic Conference interior ministers in their final statement, issued at the end of their meeting in Doha, held that all Israeli measures to change geographic and demographic features of the Golan are illegal.

The statement condemned Israel for refusing to abide by UN Security Council Resolution no. 497, from 1981 and for its violation of principles of international law, particularly the Geneva agreement of 1949.

The conference praised the resistance of Golan citizens against Israeli attempts to annex the Golan.

On the ME peace process, the conference called for the implementation of all agreements, commitments and guarantees previously reached between Arabs and Israel. The conference urged all those Islamic countries which started establishing ties with Israel to review those ties and close their offices, so as to force Israel to implement the agreements and commitments and to abide by Madrid Terms of Reference and other agreements.

The conferees also condemned Israel's continued occupation of south Lebanon and its aggression against civilians in the area, calling for the implementation of UN resolution 425 provides for an unconditional and immediate Israeli withdrawal from South Lebanon.
