Afro-Arab parliamentary conference condemns Israeli anti-Arab policies

Originally published

The Afro-Arab parliamentary conference in its final statement issued last night in Cotonou, Benin affirmed Syria's sovereignty over the whole Golan and considered all Israeli measures to change its legal, geographical, political and demographically status as null and void and constituting a flagrant violation of international accords and the UN charter.

The statement stressed the need for reviving peace talks from the point they stopped at almost two years ago, pointing out the Syrian-Lebanese tracks are inseparable.

It also called upon Israel to withdraw its forces from the Golan Heights and other occupied Arab lands.

The conferees condemned Israel's policies towards peace and called for the implementation of the UN Security Council resolutions 242, 338 and 425. They also called upon the international community to shoulder its responsibilities to revive the peace talks in the aim of achieving a durable and comprehensive peace in the ME region.
