Israel hits guerrilla bases; three Israelis wounded
Israeli fighter bombers struck Hizbullah bases in southern Lebanon for the second straight day Friday after guerrilla ambushes and firefights left three soldiers wounded, security sources said.
The soldiers were wounded in two separate attacks on the Sujud outpost in which guerrillas used machine guns and mortars, they said.
Israeli warplanes retaliated by targeting Hizbullah positions in Iqlim al-Tuffah, including Aqmata, Jarjou and Jbaa, causing no casualties.
Israeli helicopters also fired missiles at Ain Bouswar, prompting anti-aircraft fire from Hizbullah fighters and Lebanese army units.
Israeli artillery meanwhile shelled villages facing the Israeli-occupied zone. A Lebanese civilian, Mohammed Jawad, was hit by shrapnel when a shell landed near his home in the village of Jarjou, the sources said.
Hizbullah guerrillas also attacked Israeli positions in Ahmadieh with rocket-propelled grenades and machine guns. No casualties were reported.
