Saudi prince for Egyptian, Saudi, Syrian cooperation

Originally published

Prince Khaled Bin Abdul Aziz praised the strategic and political coordination and cooperation between Syria, Egypt and Saudi Arabia.

In a statement quoted by the London-based al-Hayat daily Prince Khaled also welcomed the diplomatic initiatives launched by Iran to improve relations with the Arab states.

The rapprochement, he said, should be built on clear foundations of respecting other countries' sovereignty and noninterference in their internal affairs, calling upon Arabs to maintain inter-Arab solidarity. He warned against the grave consequences of Turkish-Israeli military cooperation and suggested the Arabs pursue a new policy toward Turkey to distance it from Israel.

Prince Khaled described the Gulf War as a real catastrophe for all those who took part in it, holding the Iraqi leadership responsible for it. Concerning the lifting of the sanctions imposed on the people of Iraq, Prince Khaled said the sanctions are now useless, after they achieved their objective.
