Algeria condemns Iran's statements
Algeria strongly condemned Iranian attempts to intervene in Algerian internal affairs. The Algerian Foreign Ministry issued a statement in which it described the statements of some Iranian officials containing clear attempts to intervene in the Algerian affairs as unacceptable from a country known for its involvement in international terrorism.
The official spokesman of the Algerian Foreign Ministry said the Iranian attempts can do nothing except arouse feelings of resentment and contempt, especially as those attempts aim to acquit the terrorist groups of their responsibility. He compared the Iranian attempts to the European attempts of France and Italy, and said that those attempts try to intervene in the internal affairs of Algeria.
This statement came after a phone call between the Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kherazi and his French counterpart Hubert Vedrine in which the two expressed their worry over the continuation of the massacres in Algeria. Both reiterated the necessity of cooperation between the European Union and the Organization of Islamic Conference, which is currently headed by Iran.
Algeria had expressed its deep resentment over a similar phone call between the Italian Foreign Minister and his Iranian counterpart last Friday and considered it as contradictory to good relations between Algeria and Italy, especially as it involves a country that is involved in the terrorist activities in Algeria.
Kamal Kherazi said the Algerian government should not look at the desire of countries to end the massacres as a form of intervention in Algerian internal affairs.
