Cheson calls for counter-violence to face terrorists in Algeria
Former French Foreign Minister Klaude Cheson expressed his belief that the only way to face Islamic militants in Algeria is with counter-violence.
He ruled out the possibility that the Algerian authorities might be directly responsible for the massacres to which civilians are subjected. He strongly criticized the French authorities and said that there has never been any "humanitarian gap" between the Algerian and French peoples during the past 170 years.
He also said the Armed Islamic Group has a different perception of life than everyone else and to counter them there is no alternative but to use violence, as no one will be able to convince them to change.
Cheson ruled out the possibility raised by some that the Algerian authorities are directly responsible for the massacres and rejected the idea of setting up an international fact-finding committee as requested by foreign human rights organizations.
