Lebanese FM: Falous crossing reopened by a Lebanese decision

In an exclusive statement to the Lebanese daily Assafir issued on Monday, Lebanese Foreign Minister Fares Boueiz stated that the decision to reopen the Kfar Falous crossing was taken in Lebanon and conditions that accompanied the reopening process were purely local.

The Lebanese FM denied any US role in adopting the said decision, "whether in convincing Israel and the lackey militias in South Lebanon to evacuate the region or in the redeployment of the Lebanese army there."

Boueiz continued that Lebanon had not received any new Israeli proposal concerning withdrawal from South Lebanon, adding that the Israeli climate concerning withdrawal from the South is attributed to the war of attrition waged by the Lebanese national resistance against occupation forces in South Lebanon.

He went on to say that Lahd 's militias have withdrawn from Kfar Falous as a result of the national resistance's escalated operations. In the name of Lebanon, Boueiz refused to offer any guarantee to Israel, calling on it to implement US resolution 425, which provided for a full and unconditional Israeli withdrawal from south Lebanon.
