Sudanese envoy delivers message to Iranian president

The Sudanese Minister of the Presidential Affairs Col. Abdel Rahim Mohammed Hassan arrived in Tehran and will meet today with Iranian President Mohammed Khatami to deliver a message from Sudanese President Omar Al Bashir to the Iranian president. The Sudanese envoy is accompanied by a Sudanese delegation.

Meanwhile, the Sudanese president has imposed a state of emergency in the western provinces of Sudan in order to counter the armed gangs rife in the region for more than 20 years.

Meanwhile, the speaker of the Sudanese Parliament, Dr. Hassan Al Torabi, criticized the US strongly and said that the Sudanese opposition is carrying out a conspiracy masterminded by the US to divide Sudan. He also accused US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright of attacking Sudan and of trying to plant the seeds of disagreement among African countries.
