Sudanese students appeal to international community

Originally published

A group of students fleeing from compulsory conscription appealed to several international human rights organizations to intervene for canceling the compulsory conscription law for secondary school students, and stopping forced participation in the war.

A statement issued by the students called for the freedom of prisoners and detainees. The statement also called for the abandonment of terror and violence against students, inside and outside campuses, and the election of student unions.

The statement appealed to international human rights organizations to press the government in order to stop the barbaric attacks on female students. It referred to the flogging some of Al-Ahfad university female students by National Islamic Front (NIF) policemen. It said that the NIF government has tried to cripple the forces of the uprising by waging violence against the student movement, Al Khartoum daily said today.
