Assad discusses developments in the region with Waldheim

Syrian President Hafez Assad discussed with former UN Secretary General and Austrian chancellor Kurt Waldheim developments in the Middle East and the deadlocked peace process.

In separate meetings with Syria's Vice President Abdul Halim Khaddam and Premier al-Zoubi, Waldheim discussed the international situation, Euro - Syrian relations, a European role in the peace process and the policy pursued by the Israeli government in obstructing peace, as well as other issues of mutual concern.
