Arab League accuses Netanyahu of undermining peace

Originally published

The Arab League accused today the current Israeli government of undermining the bases of the peace process and of working to thwart all the regional and international efforts exerted to save it from failure.

The official spokesman of the Arab League, Talaat Hamad, said that what was stated by Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu yesterday in his address before the Likud Party conference will explode the situation in the Middle East and will cause more violence and tension.

Netanyahu had stated yesterday his refusal of the idea of setting up a Palestinian state and his rejection of dividing Jerusalem. He also stated that Israel will not offer any concession in the upcoming negotiations and called on the Palestinians to forget all the previous agreements, especially those of redeployment, and to coexist with the new realities.

Hamed confirmed that what was said by Netanyahu demonstrates that Israel did not abandon its hostile policies and its project of building the "Greater Israel."

The Arab League called on all the international powers, the co-sponsors of the peace process, the USA, Russia, and the European Union to adopt decisive actions toward the Israeli policies. Hamad added that Israel is trying to undermine the stability and security in the Middle East while the Arab countries are exerting their efforts to establish peace in the region.

The Arab League also said that the Israeli policies prove that the Arab countries were right when they refused to go through any economic cooperation with Israel before establishing the political agreements.
