Baghdad hails Chirac remarks

Iraq hailed yesterday what it said were positive remarks by French President Jacques Chirac in which he affirmed France's rejection of the use of force against Baghdad.

"They reflect a balanced attitude rejecting the American hegemony under the cover of the so-called 'New World Order,'" the official news agency INA said, quoting a statement by its political editor, Al Wafd daily said today.
