Hariri's Last Day in Tokyo
Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri and his wife Nazik met Japan's Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko in their palace, before returning to Beirut in the afternoon as scheduled. The meeting centered around the prime minister's discussions with the Japanese, the reconstruction projects in Lebanon and the peace process in the Middle East. In the morning, Hariri also met with Arab diplomats in Japan to inform them about his trip's results.
In addition, Japan decided to finance the Shabrouh and Bisri dam projects and is also studying other investments worth $350 million, after Hariri's meeting with his Japanese counterpart Ryutaro Hashimutu yesterday. The issue of the detained Red Army members was brought up during the meeting, but Hariri gave no promises.
