Palestinian housing project to stop settlement plans
The Palestinian Authority will soon implement a housing project in the Palestinian village in Ghor Al Ordon in order to stop Israeli settlement extension and attempts to evict the Palestinian people.
The project includes building 50 housing units in the village of Marg Al Gazal, 40 kilometers north of the city of Ary, with a cost of $45 thousand offered by the PA. The Minister of Finance in Self Rule Authority mentioned that this project aims to strengthen the existence of Palestinians in the area of Al Agwar in the face of fierce settlement policies.
He added that this project represents the Palestinian reply to the Israeli demolition and confiscation policies in the occupied territories aiming to evict the Palestinians from their homes.
Israel tried in the past to stop this project in the 200,000 people village, the majority of whom depends on agriculture due to the good geographical position of the village. The village lies in Area B, which is controlled by the PA through the self rule agreements, but its nearness to the Area G which is under the Israeli control exposes it to constant dangers from the Israeli settlement policy.
The Palestinians accuse Israel of preventing development and housing projects in the Ghor Al Ordon which represents 2/3 of the total size of the West Bank.
