Nabil Abu Rudeineh, special advisor to PNA President Yasser Arafat, warned that the whole region is heading towards an open confrontation if no progress is achieved in the peace making efforts.

"We are in the last 15 minutes and in two weeks the region will find out whether we are heading to a real peace and coexistence or towards a overall confrontation," said Abu Rudeineh who noted that in his latest tour in Europe, President Arafat "has not met a single European official who supports the government of Benjamin Netanyahu.

He said there is an international consensus that Israel should honor the interim agreements and stop all Jewish settlement activities, "But it is the intransigence of the Israeli government that has made the picture so clumsy."
