55 killed and wounded in a massacre in Algeria

Gunmen killed 22 people in two massacres in Algeria and about 30 persons were found in a well in the capital Algeria, Algerian papers said yesterday.

Gunman killed 16 villagers in Oued Djer Hamlet in Medea province 45 miles south of Algiers on Saturday night, "Le Sair d' Algeria" reported.

10 children including a baby were among the victims, who were members of four families, it said, the paper did not say how the families were killed, but reported that the unidentified attackers abducted five men and one woman, Al Ahrar daily said today October 29.
