Islamic national conference opens in Beirut
Addressing the conference's opening ceremony, which was attended by 104 Islamic and Arab cultural, intellectual and political figures, the general coordinator of the Islamic national conference, Dr. Ahmad Sudqi Al Dijani, said the history of the present stage will always register the Syrian leadership's role in expressing this political resistance and in inviting other Arab leaders to join efforts.
One of the aspects of political resistance is the stand rejecting participation in the Doha economic conference and calling for renewing the boycott and setting up the Arab common market.
Former Lebanese premiere Saleem Al Hoss condemned the Doha conference and underlined the significance of the Lebanese resistance in the south as well as the need to maintain constant coordination on the Syrian-Lebanese tracks in the peace talks. Huss warned against succumbing to economic projects with Israel and called for establishing an Arab common market as a natural alternative.
Later, secretary General of Hizbullah Hassan Nasrallah made a speech explaining the grave circumstances the region is undergoing due to great challenges.
