Reactions on Tweini assassination calling for truth

Originally published

The Qatari newspaper Al-Rai said that unveiling the truth regarding the latest events in Lebanon wouldn't be realized by unsubstantiated accusations, but rather by searching for those who have the interest in harming Lebanon and its stability.

"The aim of those who committed the assassination of Lebanese MP and Journalist Jubran Tweini and other crimes is very clear... they want to raise pressure on Syria and destabilize security in Lebanon," the Qatari newspaper said in an editorial published Tuesday.

On its part, Qatari Al-Watan underlined that "those who committed the last crimes in Lebanon are a third party that wants to see Lebanon and Syria as enemies even though the matter required instigating a new civil war in Lebanon." "Before accusing this party or that in the assassination of Tweini, let us think of the most beneficiary side from committing such crime and the other crimes," Al-Watan added in an article today.

In Beirut, Chairman of Lebanese Al-Najada Party Mostafa Hakim called on all Lebanese not to simply accuse others or predict the results of the investigation into the assassination of Tweini.

Hakim, in a statement, called for not forgetting the Israeli factor which permanently seeks to destabilize security in the country, and not to point an accusation finger to Syria who has offered sacrifices to prevent Lebanon from internal disintegration.
