The parliamentary majority which stands against Syria decided to resort to the streets to intensify pressures on Syria and its local supporters after the assassination of the Lebanese journalist and parliamentarian Jubran Tueini, amid French conformation to supporting the Lebanese demands in order to disclose those behind the new crime.

A statements issued by the "Forces of March 14" called for a general strike in the country today "in the Jubran Tueini day" and to vast people participation on rejecting the continued series of crimes and a loyalty for the "march of the martyr."

The said commission which is composed of Muslim and Christian organizations, parties and figures mobilized on March 14 some one million demonstrators demanding disclosing the killers of the former Lebanese prime minister Rafiq al-Hariri and its candidates overwhelmed the parliamentary elections which followed the withdrawal of the Syrian army from Lebanon in April.

The statement which was read by the Lebanese parliamentarian Butrous Harb at the headquarters of the Lebanese daily al-Nahar whose chief editor is Tweini urged the speaker of parliament to call for a special meeting for the parliament in order to discuss the "grave situation resulting from the continued terrorist series and to take decisive measures to protect the life of the Lebanese."

He explained that the discussion should deal with the "problem resulting from the existence of the security system on the highest level of authority especially the president whose term of office was extended compulsorily at the Syrian will and in contrary to the rules of the Lebanese constitution." The statement accused Syria of assassinating Tweini who ever stood against it.
