Syria is an obstacle in the face of plots, Russian official

Member of the Security Committee at the Russian Duma Council, General Nicola Lyonov, said that political analysts, who have observed the latest events regarding Syria, see that Syria permanently constitutes the main obstacle in the face of foreign plots.

"The US administration and Israel exploit the assassination of former Lebanese Premier Hariri to launch a hostile campaign against Syria and accuses it of this crime relying on false and lie testimonies," Lyonov told SANA Wednesday.

"Throughout my life-time work in the Soviet Foreign intelligence apparatuses, I confidently know that the Israelis are those who run acts of terror in Lebanon... they have complicated networks of agents there," the Russian MP added.

He said that the US, who failed to control Iraq, wants to divert the attention of American public opinion from its failure by blaming Syria and accusing it of supporting terrorism.
