Syrian committee bans travel of 6 officials in relation to the Hariri murder
The Syrian special judicial committee on the investigation of the former Lebanese prime minister murder banned the travel of 6 Syrian officials wanted for interrogation by the UN investigation committee to this end.
The spokesman for the committee said that it had started inquiring of the said officials, but without disclosing their names. However, unconfirmed reports said that among the 6 men is the chairman of the military intelligence Asef Shawkat, brother in law of the Syrian president Bashar al-Assad.
However, this coincided with the invitation by the Syrian judicial committee to the chairman of the UN investigation committee to sign a memorandum of understanding in order to define the framework of work and mechanism in the investigation.
