Iraqi reconciliation meeting to be in Cairo
Iraqi officials confirmed on Tuesday the agreement to convene the preliminary meeting for the national dialogue conference in Cairo on 10th of November, while the representative of the Arab League Ahmad Bin Hali announced that he had completed 80% of the mission for the sake of which he came to Iraq.
In Cairo, the UN secretary general Kofi Annan welcomed the initiative of the Arab League to convene a conference for dialogue and expressed support for the conference.
Deputy chairman of the Iraqi al-Dawa party Jawad al-Maliki said that the preliminary meeting of the Iraqi national dialogue conference will be held on November 19 in Cairo.
This came after al-Maliki talks in Baghdad with Bin Hali who has been making consultations since last Saturday with the Iraqi forces in order to prepare for the conference in light of the results of the visit of the UN secretary general Amr Moussa's recent visit to Iraq. Al-Maliki expected the convening of the second dialogue conference by the beginning of next year in Iraq after the legislative elections.
